Building AI agents on n8n: automate your business processes, no code

Automate a business process without writing a single line of code. On day 1, your teams learn how agents work and build their first ones on n8n. On day 2, they put them to work on your real use cases in a dedicated hackathon. Every participant leaves with working agents.

in brief

The Datajuba course on building AI agents on n8n is a two-day (14-hour) in-house training course for 8 to 10 participants, with no technical prerequisites: the first day to understand and build agents, the second to prototype agents on your real processes in a hackathon.

By the end of this training

  1. Your teams understand how AI agents work and what they are made of

  2. They know how to create agents connected to tools and databases

  3. They design agents for their own business use cases, in a hackathon

  4. Every participant leaves with working agents that can be deployed

Detailed programme

Day 1: understand agents and build your first ones. Day 2: a hackathon on your real use cases.

  1. Day 1 · Understand AI agents

    • Definition, concrete use cases and the differences between an agent, a chatbot and an AI assistant
    • The 4 components of an agent: orchestrator, LLM, tools and memory

    • How the agent chooses and uses its tools
    • From a standard prompt to an agent prompt: structuring effective instructions
  3. Day 1 · Build your first agents

    • Customer support agent: analysing the request, querying the database, replying, updating the after-sales record
    • HR agent to help read applications: criteria, prompt structure, testing, final decision made by a person
    • Meeting summary agent: structured extraction, formatted minutes
    • Consolidation: group review of the agents created and good practice
  4. Day 1 · Query document databases

    • Reporting analyst agent: importing a CSV file, calculating indicators, structured table
    • Minutes agent: automatic update of actions and owners
    • RAG in practice: connecting an agent to a knowledge base
    • End-of-day review: summary of what was learned and open questions
  5. Day 2 · Scope the business use cases

    • Selecting use cases by value, feasibility and clarity
    • Writing up the need: target user, problem addressed, expected result
    • Defining the scope: data used, business rules, level of autonomy
    • Prioritising the cases to prototype during the day
  6. Day 2 · Co-design the AI agents

    • Work in sub-groups on the participants' real use cases
    • Writing the instructions, choosing the sources and structuring the interactions
    • Building the prototypes on n8n
    • Methodological support from the trainer to unblock design issues
  7. Day 2 · Test, improve and secure the prototypes

    • Cross-testing between groups on realistic scenarios
    • Adjusting answers, rewording instructions
    • Identifying limits: quality of sources, access to data, human review
    • Good deployment practice: governance, agent owner, maintenance
  8. Day 2 · Present the results and prepare next steps

    • Presentation of the prototyped agents and demonstration of the use cases
    • Group analysis of the business value and the gains to measure
    • Recommendations for moving from prototype to real use
    • Review: what was learned, points to watch, roadmap after the course

Why train your teams to build AI agents on n8n?

An AI agent is a program that carries out a task from start to finish: an event triggers it (an email received, a form filled in, a file uploaded), it fetches information from your tools, writes or calculates, then prepares the next action. A chatbot follows a script, an assistant answers when asked; an agent acts. Our article AI agent or chatbot (in French) explains these differences in detail.

n8n is an automation tool in which this agent takes the form of a workflow: a series of visible, connected steps that your teams put together without writing code. It is at its best on tasks that span several tools: from a form to the CRM, from the inbox to a spreadsheet, from meeting minutes to the client file.

Which task should you hand to an n8n agent first?

A frequent task, always done the same way, where you can describe a good result and the data is accessible. Good candidates are often found where your teams copy information from one tool to another: qualifying an incoming request and creating the CRM record, sorting customer emails and drafting replies, compiling data from several sources each week for a report that is reviewed before it goes out. More ideas are gathered in our article AI agents by role (in French).

To choose between several ideas, we use the RICE method: how many people or operations are affected, what impact, how certain, how much effort. Then one rule: always look for the simplest solution that creates the expected value. The order to follow:

  • Existing feature: does one of your tools already do the job?
  • Configuration: is a template, a rule or a mandatory field enough?
  • Assistant or agent: do you need AI to read, sort or write?
  • Automation: do you need to chain several tools without anyone stepping in?
  • Custom development: only if none of the above meets the need.

Why does data quality matter as much as the agent?

Because an agent cannot be better than the information it actually has access to. A perfectly built workflow will produce wrong answers if it reads an out-of-date file or an incomplete database. Gartner estimates that 60% of AI projects without "AI-ready" data will be abandoned by the end of 2026 (forecast published in February 2025).

Before you build, ask these questions:

  • Where is the information, and what is the source of truth?
  • Are the documents and records up to date?
  • Does the tool have a connector or an API (an interface that lets two pieces of software exchange data) that n8n can call?
  • What rights should the agent have, and which ones must it definitely not have?

Who builds the agents, and who approves them?

Your AI Ambassadors build and maintain their team's simple agents; a person approves anything that commits the company. An AI Ambassador is a volunteer, often spotted during training, who acts as a relay in their team: they identify tasks to automate, create and test simple workflows, document them and feed the list of projects.

They also have clear limits: they do not scale anything up alone, do not handle critical data outside the frame set by your AI Charter and do not put any agent into service without a named owner.

Human review belongs wherever a mistake is costly: an email sent to a client, a record changed in the CRM, a figure passed to management. For HR, candidate selection is a high-risk use under the AI Act: an agent can help read applications, but the decision stays human.

n8n or Copilot Studio: how do you choose?

Look first at where your data lives. If the agent has to connect tools from several vendors (a CRM, a messaging tool, a spreadsheet, a business database), n8n is the natural choice. If everything happens in SharePoint, Teams and Outlook, the Copilot Studio course will be a better fit.

Three other criteria matter: how sensitive the data to connect is, the profile of the people who will build the agents and the annual cost (licences, hosting, usage). No vendor, neither Microsoft nor n8n, pays Datajuba: our recommendation starts from your environment, not from a catalogue.

What happens after the course?

The best prototypes move into a pilot, and then we measure what they really deliver. Launching an agent means handing it to a real team, on a real volume, with an owner and documentation.

We do not promise gains in advance: we measure them with you. The value delivered is simple to calculate: actual unit gain × actual volume × actual adoption. A brilliant agent that no one uses brings nothing; a modest agent used every day can lighten a team's workload.

When several teams want their agents at the same time, someone has to prioritise, decide what deserves to be scaled up and track the value. That is the role of the Chief AI Officer part-time.

How much does the course on building AI agents on n8n cost?

From €5,000 excl. VAT for the two days, in-house, for a group of 8 to 10 participants. You receive a quote within 48 hours.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. The course is for all staff, with no technical prerequisites. Participants build a business workflow step by step, each on their own computer: hands-on practice comes before technical concepts.

What do we need before the course?

Access to n8n and to the tools to be connected. A prerequisites checklist is sent on signature: accounts, n8n server, connectors and permissions. We check it with you before the session.

Can the course be funded by the OPCO?

Yes, subject to your OPCO's criteria. Formations dispensées par SAS Windoo (Groupe Windoo), organisme certifié Qualiopi au titre des actions de formation. We help you put together the application.

Your teams already know n8n?

A one-day hackathon, for 8 to 10 participants, is the short version: it starts straight from your real processes to co-build agents you can test.

n8n or Copilot Studio: which course should we choose?

Copilot Studio if your teams work in Microsoft 365 and your documents are in SharePoint, Teams or Dataverse. n8n if your agents need to connect a variety of tools, in a mixed ecosystem.
